  • Condition: In my opinion, compact is in very good vintage condition; working clasp and hinge; original wool puff has been used and top side is clean; interior locking mechanism and hinge to the loose powder storage works smoothly. I have not polished the brass; signs of wear appropriate for age.

    Description

    Vintage KIGU Courting Couple Cameo Loose Power Compact
    Brass compact - the mirror bezel is engraved "PATENTED MADE IN ENGLAND" and it carries the embossed KIGU maker's mark under the wool puff and on the wool powder puff. Compact measures 3.5 inches in diameter; there is a suede slipcover for the compact which is beginning to crack in a few places and it shows indentions from the cameo resting underneath. The screened cover over loose powder is in very good condition, clean looking.
    I believe this is vintage 1940's during or after the war years because of the art on the cameo - peasant courting couple.
    Outstanding details in their clothing and landscape.
