Here is an old BSA bar and needle compass. I have seen another described as being from the 1950's though I cannot be certain myself since I don't have any references on hand. It is plastic with metal dial. Good working condition, points to north, but takes a few moments to settle in, unlike liquid filled compasses. Simple tool from simple times for a simple but important task of finding your way around.
See pictures. Has official Scout seal: "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA / Be Prepared" in center of dial, "CHICAGO APPARATUS COMPANY" at top and "MADE IN U.S.A." on bottom of dial. Measures 1-3/4" across, 7/16" thick.
