SCARCE VINTAGE C. 1930’s “COTY” DECO PERSPEX COMPACT/LIPSTICK HOLDER “HONEY BEIGE R53R” POWDER (COMPRESSED powder square in chamber under polished metal lid that has smudges from age and use); “COTY” powder puff present: “24 FLAME RED” lipstick present in fitted tubular holder in hinge end of compact; original foil label says “COTY NEW YORK PARIS ‘FRENCH FLAIR/MUTED PEACH’
REFILLABLE”.
Gilded eagle at crown and logo stamped in face.
Approx. 3 ½” x 2 ½” ( at widest point):
beautiful shape graduates from tubular lipstick end with strap hinges to wider, rounded end with foldover clip-type catch.
PERSPEX is a DECO-era plastic often used in handbags, particular lids and handles.
Compact is an opalescent oystershell grey.
Over approximately ¾ of a century the color of the “24 FLAME RED” lipstick has degraded to a more orange shade, but we can’t imagine that anyone would bid on this superb Deco plastic compact to use the lipstick!
Very good condition except as noted (smudges on internal metal powder chamber lid).
