HARRIETT HUBBARD AYER TINY 1940s PERFUME COMPACT - VERY RARE COLLECTOR'S ITEM.
Welcome.
Extremely rare antique Harriet Hubbard Ayer Art Deco Perfume Bracelet.   Very rare collectible.
We'd place this piece in the 1940s.  At first we thought this was from the 20s or 30s but the powered perfume inside (Golden Chance) was originally launched in 1948.
This rare and unique gold-toned compact is extremely collectible and very hard to find.    It measures 1-1/4" D x 1/4" thick.
The golden tone mini compact is accented with Mother of Pearl and Sparkling Clear Rhinestones.  The gold-tone snake chain  measures 7-1/4" and is suitable for a smaller wrist.  Golden Chance pressed powder perfume is still inside and has a lovely faint smell.  The only thing missing is the tiny puff.
The findings are still good -- the mirror has very slight spotting but to be expected for its age.   Hinges and closure work fine.
The compact could be removed from bracelet chain and and worn as a pendant.
It is inscribed -- "Harriet Hubbard Ayer New York" on the side.  Current market value of this rare piece is 5-0!
According to Wikipedia, Harriet Hubbard Ayers was a Chicago socialite. She became famous for having initiated the first cosmetic company in the United States. She set the stage for later female cosmetic moguls.  In 1886, she launched Recamier Toilet Preparations, Inc., which she managed and marketed by incorporating her own name on the label and writing strategic, innovative advertising copy. People were appalled at such indiscretions, but Harriet understood that it actually encouraged women who aspired to a higher social status to purchase her products.  Her products included creams, balms, scents, brushes,
