Description
Hawaii overprint noteswith brown seal were
issued during WWII
as an emergency issue after the attack on
Pearl Harbor
. The intent of the overprints
was to easily distinguish US currency captured by Japanese forces in the event of an invasion of Hawaii
and render the bills useless.
This scarce block is valued at 00 in uncirculated condition in the " Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money " by John Schwartz and Scott Lindquist.
