Description
Spectacular Carl Zeiss M.F. 12,20, 40x80 telescope. It appears to be a unit that was never issued, and is in near perfect condition. The eyepiece rotates and has a spring lever stop. It snaps into place in all three positions. The optics are crystal clear, but difficult to get a good photograph through. There is a small vertical gunsight type aiming device. See photo # 3 . I am not sure if these units were meant for military use or astronomy. The telescope weighs around 14 pounds, and is over 23 inches long (with the hood extended!). It is made to mount on a tripod, or the Zeiss model table stand, which i have neither. Below is a description from an article I found.Shipping is a flat 0.00 insured. No international shipping.
Carl Zeiss 3. model - from c. 1928 (see catalogue Astro 80, p. 16) changed to a more slender design: the objective tube became conical and was cast onto the prism housing. A sideways dove-tail mount slips into the tripod adapter. The tube and the housing are still covered with an Ebonite finish. Its specifications are given on the top cover of the prism box – now "M.F. 12.20.40.x80" as well as the Zeiss logo and the serial number.
