Beautiful antique make-up / powder compact.
Birth of Venus image.
Made of 800 silver with hand painted enamel and hand engraved details. The interior has a gilt wash on the bottom compartment and a mirrored top. Mesh powder cover.
Approx. 2 3/4" diameter.

First half of the 20th century, Italy.
Condition:
Excellent original condition.
No chips, cracks, hairlines, breaks, bends, or damage of any kind.
There are several light surface scratches to the enamel that can only be seen upon very close investigation and are not at all conspicuous.
The mirror exhibits some minor age related silvering surface imperfections that are not conspicuous. See photos.
There is a tiny rust colored mark on the mesh powder cover. See photos.
This compact appears to have never been used for makeup or powder.
