Description
This is a veteran, silver
"One Half Dirham"
from the
"Kingdom of Morocco"
. It was struck in Anno Hegirae or
"In the year of the Hegirae"
1299, which began November 23, 1881, during the reign of Sultan Moulay al-Hasan or Hasan I. He became King in 1873 and ruled until he died in 1894.
Hasan I maintained the independence of Morocco but the French eventually, in 1912, turned it into a
"protectorate"
that lasted until 1956. This coin, dated AH 1299 was struck at the Paris mint.
Weight: 1.35 Gram, 14.5 Millimeter, .835 Silver. Mintage: 13,500,000.
